Dan Radven’s artwork is an outgrowth of this imaginative spirit and love of making mixed with a unique vision influence by the natural landscape, cultural implications and a good sense of humor.  Each piece begins as most of his art does… a doodle… a sketch… an inception of the subconscious then made tangible using materials that to bring intrigue to the senses and sense to the form.  He has worked as a visual artist for over 25 years, creating architectural and ornamental ironwork, furniture, lighting, sculpture, wearable art to public art.  His hand skills and material knowledge has been informed through a BFA  in  Jewelry Metalsmithing from Texas Tech University, a MFA in Blacksmithing from Southern Illinois University- Carbondale, being the Blacksmithing Department Head at Peters Valley Craft Education Center, Layton, NJ, operating his custom Metalsmithing studio in Victor, MT and teaching at many craft schools.  Currently he is living in Santa Fe, NM and works for the State’s Museum and Monuments system as an Exhibition Preparator and Artifact Mount Maker.  It’s the combination of all these experiences and paths that fuels Dan’s enthusiasm for art /objects/ and how it is presented and engages daily life.
